Whirling Dervishes

Founded by Mawlānā Jalāl ad-Dīn Rūmī, whirling dervishes are performing a dance in between the material and spiritual world since the 13th Century AD. After travelling from Balkh to Konya, Rumi took over his father’s theological school and converted into a Dervish Lodge. After whirling to a rhythm of artists in downtown Konya, his successors continued it upon his death and made it a part of the religious gatherings in the dervish lodges. All details of the performance have a special meaning and the whole ceremony is an answer to the base of the teachings of Rumi which is established on modesty and giving. There are 2 shows performed everyday in Cappadocia in a 12th Century Caravanserai which contributes a lot to the nature performances. Please ask from our reception to book tickets to a Whirling Dervish show.
